I understand that Black Panther has come out a while ago and I am speaking about this now, but I feel like this needs to be said. And I only have every 3rd or 4th tuesday of the the month to speak. So I am just going to talk about it now and plus “Wakanda Forever” right, so it ain’t ever too late to talk about anything related to Black Panther.
Another side note, I am gonna be the biggest hypocrite ever and talk about Letitia Wright and her character Shuri without even watching the movie. I’m sorry, I’m sorry I know, throw whatever you like at me I’ll take it. I know right, how on earth have I not gone and watched Black Panther. Im sorry but I’m one of those people who like to wait till it’s on the television. Yes, you read it right television. I need like fifty people to tell me it’s a really good movie for me to invest my time and money in it and so far a hundred fifty-five have and I have already slapped myself.  Anyways enough about me!

Can I just state that, Letitia Wright and her character Shuri are some badass ladies that hit the hollywood industry and the virtual industry with a boom. Now re-read the previous sentence and imagine some brown 19 year old women clapping while reading the words some. bad. ass. ladies. I have just been obsessed for the past couple of weeks and this is just from hearing and reading what others have to say.
Let’s first start with Letitia Wright. Roses, this woman is amazing. She is a 24 year old women breaking so barriers. She was born in Guyana, and at the age of seven moved to London with with her family. She was inspired to act by Keke Palmer from the movie Aklee and the Bee. That was a very influential movie as well by the way. But isn’t it beautiful, to hear stories from someone as famous and successful about her inspiration openly and honestly. She is just like us who watches movies and TV  and is influenced by characters and actors/actress. It’s her authentic personality that draws me in, that draws everyone in. (Look at me, “authentic personality”, talking like I know her, hehe.) She was also very open about her life, as she talked about depression, taking a break from acting, religion and much more in many interviews. I will list the websites I have used and interviews at the very end, and you can go crazy with that and stalk her journey and life and start chanting Letitia Wright or Shuri in you sleep. Shes has many different projects in television and films from 2011 to now, embodying many different characters standing for different things. Letitia Wright has become an inspiration to many young, black women and men around the world, who have seen this movie or not. She had taken her character Shuri and not only played her but took her to the stage and made sure Shuri's talent, personality, and voice was heard when people had thought about this movie. And this is just the beginning of the ladder, you can see her in Ready Player Number One, which is now out in theatres, and in the future, Avengers:Infinity War.

Now if you haven’t heard enough about Letitia Wright, let’s just take a second and talk about her character Shuri, in Black Panther. Shuri is a 16 year old tech genius, princess of wakanda, sister of King T’Challa. Shuri is one of the, maybe the most, influential characters to have broken the universal chains of what princess means. She is no fragile little girl who needs some prince to save to the day. No, she uses her talent, her mind and protects herself, her brother and people of Wakanda. Shuri is said to be one of the smartest characters, said to even be smarter that Tony Stark and Peter Parker. By saying that, Shuri is not only representing but showing a promise to the younger generation, millennials, to people of colour, to women around the world, to women in or interested in  S.T.E.M. especially in technology and to some many people for their own unique reasons. Her character is a push in the real life for more girls and women to join or take an interest in S.T.E.M. and she not only shows but opens some many doors that many females especially from a minority group did not know even existed for them. She is an all rounded character who is funny, smart and confident. How often do you see female characters especially as prominent in a film. We now have character who can be apart of many different conversations such as the list above of people she is representing and the start of many new ones.

Now I can go on about these two women, fiction and non-fiction and about how I feel, which is a sea of many things especially proud of her, of being a women, of being interested in S.T.E.M and so much more. Or I can go watch the movie now after this since it’s tuesday, which means discounted tickets, yes! I rather go watch the movie and write another post in the comments about how much I missed in this one. I hope everyone enjoyed this post and feel free to comment about anything I wrote. I even heard that this film is led by many women, comment below on your favourite scenes showcasing a strong female, or another awesome actress that played another amazing character and just needs to be heard of.Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I hope everyone one is having a beautiful evening.

I am just going to write this in the comments as a quick part 2 for the post. So I ended up watching the Black Panther last night. And there is just so much more to Black Panther than meets the eye. So many parts in the movie reflected different parts of our history, political views, family, loss, abandonment, responsibility and etc. Though it was really good movie, it was equally empowering as well. Can we just talk about Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia and Dania Gurira as Okoye!!! They were fire. FIRE!!! They play real strong human beings that are able to defend themselves without supernatural powers or some suit that gives them abilities. People were looking at them for directions, and protection. When people ask if you could have any ability or power, why is it that we chose non-existent or unattainable abilities from your favourite superhero characters. Why not be as strong, confident, talented, and skilled as Okoye, a warrior of Wakanda. Or be as smart and funny at such a young age like Shuri. Where your creations could be something that protects your country and makes it thrive. Or posses so much compassion as strong as Nakia, that it will give you the ability like her to leave a fine man like Chadwick Boseman, King T'Challa, Black Panther and help people in Africa. A woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do. We don't have to live up to these examples and I was joking about the last one though even though he stayed. But what can attain and work hard for is the knowledge, compassion, and skills that all three women had. I'm glad I had gone and watched the movie, the movie was very relatable to a younger audience but if you really understand movie, you'll see there are alot of references about the corruption in our world now and from the past. Again Lupita Nyong'o and Dania Gurira brilliant actresses and the characters were written and portrayed equally powerful. Have a wonderful day Roses.
